Urban Decay Birthday Giveaway & Special Thank You

Well, A Scottish Lass blog turns 2 in August - I can hardly believe it.  Since I started blogging I have met, and become friends with some really lovely people - Sasha, Sophie, Luchessa, Laura - too many names to mention everyone but I love them all.  In November last year I met and had dinner in  New York City with one of my favourites Leslie, which was definitely up there with the highlights of my trip.

I have met some brilliant Scottish Bloggers along the way too - Kirsty, Laura, Ashly, Rachel G, Rachel B & Amey.

Lastly, but by far least - one very special Welsh lady I am honoured to call a friend - Georgina, we talk like we've known each other our whole lives.

This is a side to blogging I really didn't expect when I started out.  I started blogging to talk about a subject I am passionate about, to fill my evenings and to express my views.  Then suddenly experienced such support from the Blogging Community it has been absolutely amazing.

To celebrate 'A Scottish Lass' turning 2 in August.  I am giving away The Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette and an Urban Decay Naked Lipgloss (your choice of shade).  As a thank you for all being so brilliant to me.  The competition will run for a month, please follow the Rafflecopter widget below to enter.  It will be open internationally too.  Good luck and here's to another year.

Isle of Skye Candles - Mango

Mango, Isle of Skye Candle Company, Candles

The lovely people from the Isle of Skye Candle Company very kindly sent me some of their absolutely gorgeous candles.  I love candles, as I am sure you are aware.  These candles are truly special, completely handmade using natural soya wax.  So not only do they smell utterly divine, they are environmentally friendly too.

July - the monthly roundup

I know it isn't quite the end of July yet, but I am particularly busy from now until the end of the month so thought I would post my July roundup slightly early.
July has been one roller coaster of emotions.

At the beginning of the month the school holidays started and we took a trip up to 'Wick' to visit family.  For those of you who don't know, Wick is a small town at the very top of Scotland, around 40 miles from John O'Groats.  Some of the loveliest scenery you will ever see is up in the Scottish Highlands.  We found a hotel named 'Mackay Hotel', we thought this was a great photo opportunity!

Lamb 1887 - Handbags with Heritage

Inspired by the old school glamour of Sophia Loren and Jackie O, Lamb 1887 bags, favoured by style mavens Pippa Middleton, Fearne Cotton and Millie Mackintosh, deliver timeless elegance with modern updates and on-trend prints and colours. The heir to a fourth generation leather empire, founder Charlotte Lamb brings a wealth of experience to her designs from a business originally established by her great grandfather, an artisan cobbler, in 1887.

Hourglass Visionaire Eyeshadow Duo - Suede - Review

Hourglas, Visionaire, eyeshadow, Suede, Makeup

This is the only item in my makeup collection by Hourglass and I picked it up from Sephora during my visit to New York in November.  We aren't lucky enough to have this sort of luxury in Aberdeen Shops, though admittedly the range available here is getting a lot better.

A Yankee Candle Obsession - Black Cherry

I don't know about you but I am candle daft,  particularly with Yankee Candles.  So, you can imagine my excitement when the Yankee Candle Company opened up in Aberdeen.  Yee haa.  Much to my husbands dismay.  Men don't get it, they can't quite understand why we do not like the bedroom smelling of sweaty feet or the kitchen smelling of last nights curry.

Galaxy Nails - Guest Post by Sparklecrack Central

A few days ago I tried “galaxy nails” for the first time ever. I didn’t do too badly, but it didn’t turn out the way that I would have preferred.

What you’ll need

Lip balm (goes around your cuticles – makes manicure cleanups much easier)
Matte or crème black nail polish
Turquoise polish
Magenta polish

Clear with multicolor glitter “holographic” top coat
Optional: white crème polish and a fine dotting tool
1 or 2 makeup sponges (I used a double-sided eyeshadow applicator)
You can use any black, turquoise, and magenta polish you wish, from any brand. I used China Glaze’s Liquid Leather (black crème), Sexy in the City (turquoise pearl), Reggae (magenta pearl), and Fairy Dust (clear multicolor glitter). (Why, yes, I did purchase the It’s In The Stars quad-set from Head2Toe Beauty, why do you ask? Shush, I really wanted Fairy Dust.) For the white polish, I used Sally Hansen’s Let’s Snow. And for the glitter top coat, I used (of course) China Glaze’s Fairy Dust.

Makeup in a Hurry - My 7 Minute Makeup - MUA, Collection, Clarins, Bobby Brown...

Benefit, Bobbi Brown, Clarins, MUA, YSL, Zoeva, MAC, Benefit, Heal Gel
We all have those days when we sleep in and are in a mad panic dash to get organised.  I actually timed myself today to see how fast I could actually get my 'face on'.  The timer read 6 minutes 58 seconds when I stopped the counter.  So let's say 7.  Would have loved 5 minutes, but no matter how much of a hurry I am in, I never slack on the skin prep.  I didn't include the actual cleansing as I had washed my face in the shower beforehand.

Guest Post -Top 5 Favourite Products

Hi to everyone! I'm Clare from sparkleblossombeauty and I'm delighted to be writing a guest post for a Scottish lass Its an amazing blog and a privilege to be featured.
I have decided for this post to do something fun and to bring you my top 5  all time favourite cant live without make-up products!

These products are my staples that even if i stray away for a little while will always come back to in the end.
Its a big decision trying to narrow down the entire contents of a make up bag to the 5 best products and during the writing of this post there was a few moments of indecision over which ones were going to make the cut. I went with my gut and have chosen these products as my top 5 of all time make-up products!

Favourite MAC Lipsticks for Summer - Guest Post.

Mac, Summer, Lipsticks, Mac Lipsticks

Hi, I'm Lou from Lou Loves Beauty and I'm taking over Laura's blog today. If you're in the UK you may have noticed that summer has decided to grace our shores and that means a couple of sunny days followed by rain and grey clouds. So, when the sun's out we have to make the most of it and today I'm going to show you my favourite Mac lipsticks for summer. You may notice a little theme, they're all coral toned, some more brighter than others but all equally seasonal appropriate.

Beauties for a Dewy Skin - Dior, Elemis, & Benefit

Dior BB Cream; Elemis Flash Balm; benefit
Everyone wants their skin to look healthy and radiant, especially in Summer - well some folk are luckier than others, they do not require any help, lucky sods.  I on the other hand, need a LOT of assistance.  This help comes in the form of the four gorgeous products, pictured above.

To achieve a gorgeous, healthy summer glow this month, add these beauties to your wish list and follow my tips below.

Start by priming your skin with 'That Gal' by Benefit.  It is an illuminating primer which instantly brightens the skin.

Next grab yourself Elemis Pro Radiance Illuminating Flash Balm* (this was sent to me at christmas to try - love it) - or, if you have it, Clarins Beauty Flash Balm - they are almost identical.  Squeeze a pea sized smidge onto the back of your hand.

Choose your favourite BB Cream, lately I have been loving 'last years craze' Dior Skin Nude #002. Now it took me a while to get into this product, but lately I have been loving it.  Mix the BB Cream and Flash balm together and with a buffing brush or with your fingers, apply all over your face.   It will feel and look like a second skin.  The flash balm will help the bb cream to stay in place longer.

Finally for that amazing dewy glow apply Benefit's 'Wattsup' on the areas you want highlighting.  Watts Up is a soft focus highlighter. It is fast becoming a 2014 favourite of mine.  hands up if you love it too!?

I love hearing tips from other bloggers about their beauty secrets so please feel free to leave your tips below and/or your links x
