With three sets of Bridesmaids duties this summer, I really wanted extra oomph to my hair. All the brides want our hair put up and I really felt that my normal hair lacked a certain something. Though my hair was a fairly reasonable length, when up in a pony tail it always seemed a bit thin. Luckily, my friend Tracey, owner of Angels in Aberdeen, is an amazing hairdresser and she suggested bonded extensions. Tracey applied these to me on Friday and I am in love with my new hair. I can quite easily see how these could become seriously addictive. I am a fan of the Ombre look so to blend the extensions in she did a nice chocolate colour on top. I apologise for the picture quality but they were #selfies.
The bonds contain natural ingredients, are translucent in colour and are about the size of a grain of rice which makes them virtually invisible to the eye. The extensions blend in with your natural hair, instantly transferring your look. Whether you are looking for a dramatic new style or simply want some extra length these could be the answer. With proper care, the extensions can last you up to 6 months though 4 or 5 is probably a more realistic view.
Once the hair extensions are in, you can style as normal i.e. curl, straighten - however you will need a proper extension brush and also a 'Tangle Teezer' is recommended for after washing.
If you are curious about getting extensions done, I am including a short video here of how they are applied, taken from You Tube. This video gives you a great insight into the application of bonds. In total it took me 3 hours to get my hair done and that was including a rinse.
Prices vary from salon to salon and as it is a bespoke service, I can only presume that packages will be specifically tailored to the individual.
Will I get these done again - most definitely.
