Mini MAC Splurge

Hush, Retrospek, Plumful, Mac227

I finally made it into our first ever MAC Store in Aberdeen.  It opened in November and I've walked past it a couple of times but it has always been absolutely mobbed.  Saturday when I was in, it was relatively quiet so I took the opportunity to nip in, as I'm sure It's a rare occurrence - people must have been lunching.

I bought a couple of bits and pieces, I wasn't actually looking for any thing specific.  Ok, that's a lie, I ran out of my Cream Colour base in the shade 'Hush' a little while ago and although I own it in Pearl, Hush is my favourite with it's frost finish and light pink shimmer it is absolutely gorgeous with its array of different uses (always seems to be sold out online).  I like to use this to gently highlight areas after applying foundation but before finishing powder.  It completely brightens up any dark circles or if you are feeling particularly sleepy.

I purchased the MAC 227 brush which is a large paddle shaped brush with a fluffy rounded tip.  It is a multitask brush, particularly good for powdered products and can be used on the eyes too.  I actually like it for applying concealer and cream colour bases for more precision blending.

Next up, I decided to add the Eyeshadow 'Retrospeck' to my collection.   I'd describe this shade as the perfect blend of silver and gold. It is a Lustre finish which isn't the most popular finish in the MAC range as it is known for being a little powdery and harder to work with however, this is a really great shade to brighten up the eyes with the tiniest amount of shimmer without looking overly dramatic.

Last but not least, I have been loving my Retro Matte 'Flat out Fabulous' Lipstick this season - which is a bright purple, however, I wanted one that was a little more subtle - one that could be worn for any casual affair, without being too bold  (which normally I love).  I opted for 'Plumful' which is stunning.  Admittedly, I am normally a fan of a matte finish but this soft plummy shade is so nice with just the right amount of moisture/gloss without feeling overly wet on the lips.  It has a lustre finish - will definitely look at the other shades in this range again.

What have been your recent MAC splurges?
