Lovely Advertisers

Wow, it is officially the last day in June and I cannot believe it!  This year is just going too fast.  As always at the end of the month I like to showcase my lovely Monthly Advertisers and their beautiful blogs.  I always enjoy these types of posts as it is really great to discover a new blog read, so if you have time please do give them a visit, you never know you may find an undiscovered favourite.

Rachel Jones is a  beauty addict and 'self proclaimed nerd' from Liverpool.  Her stunning blog 'Emerald Skies', shares Rachel's love of pretty things and her in depth reviews are one of my favourite evening reads.

Hello lovely readers! My name is Zoe & I'm from a small island in the Caribbean called Puerto Rico. I'm 19 years old & an university student trying to make something of myself. My blog is all about beauty, fashion and student tips and rambles of university life. If you could go ahead and check it out, that would be incredible. Thank you!

My name is Laura, I am a trainee solicitor, soon to be fully qualified solicitor and a part-time blogger I am from Scotland and currently live in Glasgow with my Chow Chow, Yogi.

The Fashion & Beauty Obsession is a blog that primarily focuses on fashion and beauty - the name pretty much says it all. I wanted to do a blog that focused on up to date fashion and beauty news, outfit creations, celebrity style on a budget and hot sales and discounts. I wanted to prove that we can still look as great as the latest celeb but still live within our means, after all we can't all afford Christian Louboutin or Yves Saint Laurent, right?

I started whilst at university. It has been running for just over 3 years although I took a considerable break from it (2 years) and have now returned after getting the blogging itch once again.

When I am not at work or blogging I love catching up with my favourite tv shows - Grey's Anatomy, Revenge, Real Housewives series and Vampire Diaries (I adore Vampire Diaries). I am addicted to Netflix - too many Tv Shows to keep up with.

When I am not tuned into the TV, you can normally find me with my boyfriend, Greg. You will see him on the blog from time to time. I enjoy doing what most folks like to do - Cinema, Restaurants, Bars etc.

I am a huge fan of Celtic Football Club, a football/soccer team who play in Glasgow, and go to all the home games with my dad :)

HI lovelies! My name is Katie and I blog over at Beauty and the Baker. A slight addiction to watching YouTube tutorials led me to lots of gorgeous blogs and inspired me to start my own. I've been doing it for 4 months now and loving every second!

Beauty and the Baker has a real mix of Beauty, Recipes and the odd post on my naughty pet degus! If you drop by to say hi, be sure to enter my International MAC Giveaway. I love it when my lovely readers leave me a comment or email me for a bit of a chat, so feel free to get in touch and say hi.

My name is Amy and I run a blog all about make up and skincare with the occasional lifestyle post creeping in there too. Starting up my beauty blog allowed me to escape the somewhat academic lifestyle I had at university, allowing to delve into all things girly outside of the geography lectures. Over the last year I have found myself gaining such an interest in make up and nail art, yet it is skincare where my main interest is growing daily. I really love running my blog and interacting with so many wonderful people :)

Sensationail Gel Kit Review

Hello lovelies,   I have been getting Gel nails for I do not know how long, at £40 quid a time plus 'soak off's' it really is getting to be an expensive hobby.  However, because i'm a busy mum, running about all over the place, a normal manicure on my nails never last, always chipped at the end of the day.   I normally go around like that for ages because knackered-ness gets the better of me at the end of the day.

Image of Sensationail

I  had been admiring Sensationail Gel Kits for a long time in Boots and the other week there, I decided to bite the bullet and splurge out £69.99 to try the kit out for myself.  Well.. the results were phenomenal.  I am so impressed by this product and how easy it was to do myself in practically no time at all.

Everything you need is in the box:
LED Light - Nail File - Cuticle Stick - Lint Free wipes - Nail Cleansing balm - Nail Primer - Instructions - Gel Base/Top Coat &
1x Gel Polish - I opted for the box with Scarlett Red - no shock there

Follow these simple steps

Begin like you would with any manicure - trim and buff your nails.  Next  prime your nails with the solution provided allowing to air dry for 30 seconds.  Apply gel base coat and place your hand under the LED light for 30 seconds.  I use a 'four finger rule' and do thumbs last.

Next apply a thin layer of your gel nail colour -  they say you can do another coat if needed, I felt  one layer was enough.  Run the brush along the tips of your nails to seal.  Place under the LED light for 60 seconds.

Finally, apply the  gel top coat, LED for 30 seconds.  Repeat these steps for your thumbs and voila!  A perfect gel manicure.

I think I did a pretty good job for my first attempt, my left hand looked beautiful.  The right hand was a little dodge but it always does when doing my nails myself but still looked pretty good.  5 days in and no chips!    I am a bit of a ditz though, I forgot to buy the Remover Kit, remedied this by nipping in to the shops and bought pure Acetone, cotton wool buds and some tin foil.

I have since ordered a few more gel shades online, they are £5 cheaper via Amazon.

Have you a busy lifestyle? try these.  Tried them already - love?

I do apologise for the rubbish quality of these pictures, my camera and I had a fall out!

A Tiffany - Bumble & Bumble - Make Over

A fortnight ago, I was invited along to a top Aberdeen salon - Tiffany Hair & Beauty for a complete hair and beauty make-over. Of course, I jumped at the chance, be rude not to right?!
Before my appointment, I didn't realise that Tiffany were not only a hair salon, but they specialise in all sorts of beauty treatments including - makeup for all occasions, massage, manicure/pedicure, spray tan and eyelash extensions - to name but a few.    I am even sorrier to say that this was my first ever visit to Tiffany, though definitely one I have always fancied trying.  It has been here for as long as I can remember and for years I would walk past, peering in through the windows, admiring the chic interior.  I think I was always under the impression that it would be out of my price range - this is really not the case the prices are extremely reasonable.

I was pretty excited on Saturday morning, getting ready to go to my appointment.   But, in usual 'Laura' style, I was late.  Though through no fault of my own, traffic was insane.  When I finally got parked I literally ran down to the Salon.  Luckily the girls at Tiffany were very understanding.    I had been into the salon a week earlier for a colour consultation as my hair was an array of different shades.  Thankfully the colour swatches lifted well so I could go ahead with the desired shade.
Tiffany is an exclusive Bumble & Bumble stockist - I absolutely adore the Bumble & Bumble range, I was really chuffed my hair was going to be pampered with their products.   Bumble & Bumble have a wide range of products for all different hair types.

An example of the products I got treated to were - B&B Prep - this detangles and protects against heat, B&B Curl Conscious Shampoo & Conditioner - to define all types of curls and
B&B Semisumo - for calming down or polishing up.

They all smelt beautiful too.   I look forward to review these products in detail.

My stylist for the day was Chloe (senior stylist).

Chloe was extremely nice and very helpful, I discussed with her how I fancied and 'Ombre' look, however, I was concerned that my hair wasn't quite long enough to pull of the look. I was also fed up of my one dimensional colour, it just looked so flat.  Chloe suggested a full head of highlights but dragging some bleach through the ends to start an 'ombre process' but at the same time keeping it very natural until my hair gains some length.    Well, I was very impressed with the results.
Not only did Chloe do a superb job of the colour I was extremely impressed with the cut and finish.  I went for a soft wave finish instead of my normal 'poker straight look', it gave me added volume and some vava-voom it has been lacking for so long.  I only wish I could curl the back of my head myself but as Chloe suggested I should teach my husband.  Now there's a thought!

Unfortunately I couldn't catch Chloe at the end of the day for a photo as she was busy with another client. However, she did leave me a lovely note.
After my hair was finished I went up stairs to meet the lovely Lucia who gave me a relaxing facial and did my make up.
Lucia is so talented and even if she didn't think so herself, very photogenic!  My skin looked utterly flawless when Lucia finished with me.  As I was in a bit of rush - due to unforeseen childcare issues and because I had no plans for that evening (unfortunately), I asked Lucia if she could just give me 'makeup refresh' for the afternoon - keeping it natural and she did a great job.

I was disappointed I didn't have a night out as I would have liked to have had her create more of an evening look ('oomph'), for a night on the town.  I will definitely book in with her for the next time.   I would absolutely recommend visiting Lucia to have your makeup done, even if it is just to cheer yourself up.  Lucia does make up for all sorts of occasions including weddings and photoshoot makeup.

Now the result - drum roll...
To say I was happy with the final result would be an understatement - I was so so ecstatic with the look both girls did a tremendous job and really made the effort to make me feel great.    If you are local or are visiting Aberdeen in the future and are looking for a bit of a pamper treat, I wholeheartedly recommend paying Tiffany Hair & Beauty a visit.
What do you think of the results?

Have you visited Tiffany Hair and beauty before.  You can visit there website by clicking here or check out their Facebook page.

Cocktail Cosmetics Review

Hello lovelies, hope you had a great weekend.  I have been quite busy.  On Friday night, I had a little pamper session with myself.  I tried out my new Sensationail Gel kit - was awesome!  Will be posting a review shortly but the result was amazing - if I do say so myself.

Yesterday, a local salon - Tiffany's in Aberdeen, an exclusive Bumble & Bumble stockist, asked if I would like to come in for a complete make-over  (hair and makeup), well it would have been rude not to - right?  The results were really good and I am excited to share a post about this with you very soon.

Today I have been lounging about like a complete slob so decided to be a little ore productive and write today's post which is about my 'go to' cosmetic website, for some cheeky 'hauling'

Cocktail Cosmetics  are an online boutique which sell some beautifully unique brands such as - Lime Crime, Yaby Cosmetics, Sugar Pill and Z Palette to name but a few.  They have been selling online for 5 years and I am sorry to say I didn't discover them up until a few months ago.    Where I have since tried and tested many of their products which are all super lush.

Cocktail Cosmetics are dedicated to selling 'cruelty free' products, with many of their brushes being 100% Vegan.

The customer service I have experienced from Julie has been exceptional, with great communication and extra fast delivery.  Yes they do ship World Wide.
In November 2012, Cocktail Cosmetics won a 'Gold Website' award from 'Mumpreneur UK' which is a 'mums who juggle business' with family life non-profit organisation.  I personally think that this is a great organisation and I think it is brilliant that working mums receive the credit due to them.

'Ambassadors of Mumpreneur include Glamour editor, Jo Evin, Karen Millen, Dragon's Den's Hillary Devey and MD of Ann Summers, Vanessa Gold'

If you are looking for something truly special to add to your collection, or are having a Sunday afternoon 'urge to spend' - pop along to Cocktail Cosmetics, you won't be disappointed.  The prices are really reasonable.

Many of you commented on my previous reviews of 'Lime Crime' and 'Sugar pill' - that you would 'really like to try' these brands, well here is your chance.

Perhaps you have already treated yourself to something from here - what did you buy?

Recent Empties

HAPPPY FRIDAY!  Hope you all had a good week.  I'm sorry there wasn't a post yesterday but I have been so unorganised lately.  I really admire bloggers who are organised and schedule things in advance.   When I do a blog post, everything is there and then, need to sort my act out.   Ok, so I don't ramble on for too long, today is a 'Recent Empties' post and I rarely do these - in fact i'm not convinced I ever have?  This is due to the fact that I take so long to finish something or I put them in the empties box and forget about them.
I try to put all my empties in a  box and when it gets reasonably full I can then do more of a substantial post.   These ex beauty boxes are ideal - do you do the same?
So my empties are as follows:

Nivea Double Effect 48hr Anti-Perspirant Deodorant
This one is scented 'Violet Senses' and is my favourite of the range, has a sweet musk smell about it.   I particularly like the Nivea range, I have been using this brand for years and it keeps me fresh all day - no sweaty betty here.

Smashbox Photo Finish Primer
Some people don't like primers, however I do - I think they provide a really excellent base for your foundation.  I am really fond of this Smashbox Primer and I probably will repurchase it at some point, but at the moment I am totally smitten with my Clarins Beauty Flash Balm.

Urban Decay - All Nighter Setting Spray
I was given this as a sample to try a while ago when visiting  the new Urban Decay counter in my local Debenhams.  It is really good for making your make up last all day - it literally sticks to your face.  I used this up fairly quickly and I think I will buy the full size of this - unless you have any other recommendations for me?

Clarins Multi-Active Day Early Wrinkle Correction Cream
This moisturiser is amazing and I have repurchased already.  This is actually the travel size I haveb featured - the full size comes in a tub.  Love it. You cannot go wrong with Clarins for skincare it is the best.

Yardley English Rose Body Fragrance
I am no good describing scents, in fact I am pretty terrible at it so I will just say - it smells gorgeous.  I originally got one of these in a beauty box and have since repurchased it twice, will continue to do so.  I bought a replacement on Fragrance Direct which was mega cheap and then I noticed Boots stocked it too so bought some more.

Body Shop Warming Mineral Mask
Is your skin feeling tired?  Are you feeling run down, stressed?  This mask makes you instantly feel a whole lot better.  As you massage the clay into your skin it heats up.  My skin benefits from this each time I use it (usually once a week) and the following morning my foundation sits really well.  I also use an exfoliating glove to gently remove dry skin cells, around once a week, as this really does make a difference to the appearance of your skin.

YSL Loose Powder
I really loved this product, teamed with my Touch Eclat foundation I felt they worked well with each other, however, it is really expensive and I won't be repurchasing - my Rimmel powder does the same job for like 4 quid.

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Eye Pencil - Whiskey
This has been my most used eye pencil and the first i've ever worn right down - it does what it says, literally glides on.  I will be repurchasing this.

What are your most recent empties?  I haven't got much time to link all these items but if you do want to know where to get them at good prices etc, just leave a comment and i'll find them for you.  You always get things cheaper if you hunt about.

Stila Convertible Color - Poppy

Image of Stila Convertible color
Image of Stila Convertible color
This season I am really into 'cream' everything, face cream, cream bronzers, ice cream you name it, I am all over it.  This Stila Convertible Color compact is no exception.

Stila Convertible Color is a dual lip and cheek cream and I am in love with the shade Poppy, it is right up my street.  Not only is the perfect shade of rouge for my lips it gives my cheeks a beautiful rosy glow - perfect for the sunny days.

This cute little compact has a beautiful floral motif on the front and when opened you have 4.25g of product and a little mirror too which is ideal - because it is 2-in-1 it really saves space in your makeup bag when you are on the go.  The cream is very moisturising on your lips which is excellent if they are feeling a bit dry.

I like to use my Cargo Magic Brush to buff the blush onto the skin work into my cheeks - it is very pigmented so you would need to be careful not to 'clart' (Scottish word meaning 'to cover in excess') the stuff all over the brush - I try to build it up to the shade strength I prefer.

The Stila Converitble Color compacts come in an array of shades from nude, right through to bronze -definitely suitable for all tastes.

Stila in general are a great brand, I am a huge fan.
Have you tried these out yet?  I'm adoring mine.

Deborah Milano Shine Creator Lip Stick Review

Good evening lovelies, tonight i've been playing with my new lipstick from Deborah Milano and I'm absolutely loving this little gem.  I was lucky enough to be sent this to try a little while ago and have been trying to keep it looking pristine for photographing.

Deborah Milano is a top selling Italian cosmetics and skincare name and are branching out to the UK market - Deborah Milano UK, you can see the variety of products they stock here

From first glance this lipstick is beautifully packaged in its deep purple sleek, compact tube with Deborah Milano classically inscribed on the front.  The lipstick itself has a gorgeous floral motif embossed on the tip which is very elegant.

This shine creator lipstick is so silky smooth on application - it hosts  3-in-1 properties, shine, hydration and protection.  It includes an SPF 15 ideal for the summer months for that lip protection - the formula includes pomegranate oil which is full of antioxidants.  This is so nourishing that it has the same properties as a lip balm.

I could actually compare this with the Revlon Lip Butters.  If you love them you will adore this as it - dare I say it - seems better quality and you will know by now that I am a big Lip Butter fan!

The Shine Creator range come in a huge array of colours to choose from at £8.50 each definitely worth treating yourself this summer.
a colour for all

Shade 13
Have you tried any thing in the Deborah Milano range, I will definitely purchase a couple more colours.  They also do matte lipsticks if a shiny finish isn't your cup of tea.   What do you think?
