50 Shades of Pink?

Sweet Peas, today's post has been written by Rosie, who is the author of 'Rosie Louise Love'.  Rosie is 18 years old and describes herself as a bit of a nerd and a crazy cat lady!  Rosie started blogging in November and her blog is just delightful, very fresh and easy on the eye.  If you haven't already visited Rosie, nip over and show her some support, today  she is talking about her April Faves - so defo worth a read, especially if you are a nosey parker like me.

50 Shades of Pink?

Ah Spring weather is finally here. It's been so dreadful recently i thought I'd never see a blue sky again. To me Spring is all about pretty colours, whether it be a bright fuchsia or a pastel pink. I always end up wearing a lot of pink products throughout Spring. Pink is easily one of my favourite colours for make up products in general, as there are so many beautiful shades of pink, the subtle pink flush of the cheek or a slick of a Barbie Pink Lipstick can really help complete any look. In honour of the weather starting to look a little bit nicer i thought I'd share some of my favourite Pink products with you

NYX Megashine Lip gloss in "La~ La~" is a beautiful bright pink lip gloss. I love rockin' the bright pink lip as i think this is a make up look that suits everyone and any occasion. The lip gloss is very highly pigmented and has a gorgeous Cherry scent. The formula is really great, not sticky but lasts a while and i love the slight shimmer in this gloss as it makes for a gorgeous look!

Barry M Dazzle Dust in Colour 78 is a lovely light baby pink eyeshadow in loose powder form. It's very highly pigmented so a little goes a very long way. The eyeshadow is very shimmery so if you're not a fan of shimmer, this isn't the product for you. It glides on the lid and blends very easily.

Elf Studio Blush in "Pink Passion" is a matte bright candy pink! It can look a little scary in the pan, but on the cheeks it leaves a beautiful and natural looking flush of colour to the cheeks. It's easily build able so can be worn subtly or layered on for a more dramatic look.

Essie's "We're In It Together" which came in my April GlossyBox is a gorgeous baby pink with subtle iridescent shimmer. It dries quickly which helps stop those annoying smudges too! This is the Nail Polish that pushed me onto an addiction to buying Essie Nail Polish'!

The Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquers in "Nova" and "Apocaliptic" are too very beautiful pinks. Nova is a lovely medium pink shade whereas Apocaliptic is an in your face bright darker pink that's sure to be seen for a mile away! I love the Apocalips, they have the benefits of a lip gloss and a lipstick1 They're long wearing, pigmented and come in a wide range of beautiful colours to suit any mood or occasion.

My final product is another product which came in my April GlossyBox and it is the Illamasqua Medium Pencil in "Manic" which is literally the most pigmented multi-tasking product I've ever tried. It says you can use it on your eyes, lips face and body. It leaves a beautiful bright pink line and the pencil is very soft and creamy. The colour glides on easily without tugging or pulling and stays for hours with no touch up needed! The pencil is a beautiful bright candy pink with no shimmer. This has made me look into other Illamasqua products and hoping I'll enjoy them as much as I've enjoyed this pencil!

Maybelline Colorsensational Vivids Review

Maybelline, Coloursensational VIvids

Whilst browsing the shelves of Superdrug, during my ritual late night Thursday shopping, these little pretties stopped me in my tracks - Maybelline Coloursensational Vivids.  I am m sure these are no stranger to your shopping trolley!

I picked up  916 - Neon Red & 910 - Shocking Coral, they are absolutely gorgeous, so vibrant the pigmentation is stunning.   The packaging Maybelline have used instantly took my eye with their see through neon lids and silver bullet tubing.  Talk about bright!   Extremely striking - for a few moments I wondered whether they would be a little garish, but this isn't the case at all.  The Maybelline Colorsenational range are definitely this Spring/Summers must have - nothing better than a bold lip to finish off your look, whether it is day or night.
Maybelline, Coloursensational VIvids

These smell lovely, creamy in texture, I would recommend moisturising or using a lip scrub before hand to reap the full benefits of these - if your lips are a bit dry they will emphasise the small lines/cracks.

The colours are very easy to work with whether you are after the bright bold full lip or something a little subtle, it is build able. If you want just a tint, enough to highlight your lips, use your finger or a small brush to lightly dab on for the toned down look.

Neon Red - 916 has quite an orangey tone through it and 910 - Shocking Coral is very pinky.   I can't resist a red or coral lipstick, by far my favourites.

I was also very impressed by the durability of these, they lasted hours - not a word of a lie.  Obviously, they will fade slightly if you have something to drink but still very eye catching.

I am now really excited about picking up the Colour Whisper Lipstick, I don't have any of them yet.

Have you tried these? what do you think?

Saturday Session - Current Favourite TV Shows

Happy saturday everyone, hope everyone had a good week and are having an even better weekend.    As I mentioned last Saturday - as well as beauty related postings, I am throwing in some lifestyle, 'behind the blogger' posts.

Today i'm bringing to you my favourite shows at the moment.   I am most definitely a tv addict especially since receiving my Apple Tv for Christmas - far too handy.

Grey's Anatomy Season 9

I am a huge Grey's Anatomy fan, I actually started watching it last year for the first time and I purchased them all on iTunes - since then - sad as it is to admit, I hate when the season comes to an end.  Season 9 is due to end on May 16th and i'm really nervous about what Shonda Rhimes has planned for the characters - I am a couple of episodes ahead of the UK - I watch it online, so I won't give any spoilers but Season 9 Episode 21 'Sleeping Monsters' is particularly good.

I also read somewhere that Shonda Rhimes was challenged to 'top' the Season 8 finale when our favourite Doctors were in that horrific plane crash - it is statements like that, which worry me.

Is it just me, when you become so enthralled in a show, you actually feel like you have developed an emotional attachment to the characters?  My particular favourites in this show are Miranda Bailey (portrayed by Chandra Wilson), Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd - he is from Scotland not far from where I stay :-p) & Alex Karev (Justin Chambers).    I have had other favourites but sadly for one reason or another they are no longer in the show.  I'm not a huge fan of the 'Derek' character anymore, they need to jazz him up again - though he definitely is still 'McDreamy'

Body of Proof
I just love Dana Delaney and especially as her role as Dr Megan Hunt in Body of Proof.  Dana is better known for her role as Katherine Mayfair in Desperate Housewives (which I also love).  Though I prefer her character in Body of Proof.   In Body of Proof, Dana portrays a smart, confident and empowering woman compared to quite a fragile character as Katherine Mayfair.

I only started watching Body of Proof last week and I am already at the end of Season 2 - I have one episode to watch - so please no spoiler comments.  Then on to Season 3, which I believe is the most up to date season.

Body of Proof, for those of you who are unfamiliar is about the life of Dr Megan Hunt, Medical Examiner in Philadelphia, solving murders, and reconnecting with her estranged daughter.  Admittedly, it started fairly slow, however, Season 1 is fairly short - Season 2 has been astounding.  Other favourite characters from the show are Ethan Gross (portrayed by Geofrey Arendt) and Curtis Brumfield (Windell Middlebrooks), they really are the making of the show.  Their characters go together like Batman and Robin and never fail to make me giggle, so witty.

I plan on watching the finale of Season 2, tonight with a glass of wine.

Breaking Bad

Finally, I feel like I was slow to jump on this band wagon.  My Husband, Sister and Brother in Law were watching this long before me, I never bothered as didn't think it would be my cup of tea.  Well a few months ago when David was offshore, I downloaded season 1.  .  . then Season 2 - until I was so utterly hooked I couldn't switch off.

Breaking Bad is about near broke Chemistry Teacher, Walter White (portrayed by Bryan Cranston) that when diagnosed with terminal Lung Cancer, worried that he can no longer provide for his family he teams up with ex stundent Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) and takes to 'cooking Crystal Meth' thus becoming a major Drug Dealer 'Heisenberg'.

During the course of the seasons I have gone from loving Walter White to actually despising him, they have made his character so brilliantly bad.  My favourite characters have to be Jesse Pinkman and Hank Schrader (Dean Norris) - Walter's Brother in Law.

For those of you who haven't watched BB or are just watching it now, I won't spoil it but I am so excited about the second half of Season 5 which I believe to be aired in August.  I also believe it will be the last in Breaking Bad.  Super excited!!

Hope you enjoyed reading this post - it is definitely different to my norm.

Since I am running out of TV shows please leave me your recommendations below for new shows to become addicted to.  Perhaps you are a lover of the aforementioned, what do you think of the shows and their characters?

30 Before 30 Challenge

This year I say good bye to my 20s and I don't feel ready for it at all.  My 20s have brought me the happiest times of my life so far - I met and married my sweetheart, we have created a home together and I have my 2 babes to be thankful for.   However, I do feel I missed out on other things. Don't get me wrong, I have no regrets but perhaps I would have done a little restructuring with my timings.

So,  207 days of being a 20 something lady left and it is about time I embrace this and have a little fun along the way.  I have set my self a '30 before 30' challenge - I am also not completely deluded, I have set more realistic goals, that are just a bit of fun.   There was no point saying I would do a bungee jump or climb Kilimanjaro (i'll save them for 40...).  I have cheated - but only slightly, numbers 20-22 were such big things before 30 that they count.

Soap & Glory Bright Here, Bright Now Review

Image of Soap & Glory Bright here Bright Now.

I picked up Soap & Glory 'Bright here, Bright Now' around a fortnight ago.  Being a fan of Soap & Glory products I thought this looked interesting so added it to my shopping basket.

The first thing that attracted me to this product was the packaging, I can't quite put my foot on it but it just sang 'try me'.  Secondly, 'instant radiance energy balm' well, we could all be doing with a bit of that!

Directions for use - Apply a generous measure of onto clean skin (use it like a moisturiser or mix it into makeup)

It is designed to give 'dull skin dazzle' and it has a creamy consistency.   There is lluminator through it which does give your skin a healthy glow, with aloe vera, apricot kernel oil and a face firming active.  However, there is just something that isn't working for me, I find it quite oily and it becomes very tacky when used as a moisturiser.

I actually thought of one comparison - if you have ever tried the famous 'Clarins Beauty Balm' (which I personally love), you will be aware that you are only meant to use a tiny bit of this then apply your makeup almost immediately before it turns tacky.   I had hoped 'Bright here Bright Now' would be a less expensive dupe for  the Clarins Beauty Balm, but it is not as good unfortunately.

Perhaps if I use it in the way I do with the Clarins Beauty Balm it will work better for me.

A fellow Blogger, on Instagram this morning, suggested that I blended it into my foundation, from her experience it gave a nice dewy finish.

Have you tried this product before?  I don't like to give up on things easily, I shall persevere though I won't be repurchasing this when it is finished.    This is only my opinion, there are people out there raving about it so don't let me put you off too much :-)
