Holly Jolly Tag

The lovely Luchessa tagged me in the Holly Jolly tag - and because i'm feeling festive - here goes.

1. Do you start your Christmas shopping on Black Friday or wait until the last-minute?
I'm normally running last minute.com, however this year I have been pretty organised and did most of it online.

2. If you could be in any Christmas movie what would it be?
It would most certainly be the Muppets Christmas Carol, somewhere in the chorus.

3. Which do you like better: Christmas Eve or Christmas Day?
I love the feeling of joy and excitement in preparation for Christmas Day so Christmas Eve is definitely my favourite.

4. When does your family put up your Christmas tree and who decorates it?
I love the Tree so much so 1st of December without a doubt.  Husband and Kids decorate it… I FIX IT later.

5. White lights or colored lights?
White, always.

6. Are you guilty of peeking at your presents or do you like the surprise?
I'm a peeker.

7. Would you rather live in a gingerbread house or in Santa’s Workshop?
I don't like gingerbread.  So Santas Workshop

8. Tell us your Christmas Eve traditions!
New PJ's, Bubble Bath, Chocolate and Festive Film.

9. If you could be under the mistletoe with anyone who would it be?
Besides my husband?   Most definitely Mr Butler.

10. What tops your tree?
A Silver Star

11. Can you name the 12 days of Christmas?
I could give it a go - Partridge in a Pear Tree, Turtle Doves, French Hens, Calling Birds, Gold Rings, geese a laying, swans a swimming, maids a milking, ladies dancing, lords a leaping, pipers piping, drummers drumming and a PARTRIDGE IN A PEAR TREEEHEEEE (again)

12. Have you ever gone Christmas caroling?

No

I tag you all if you are being so kind to read this.

Beauty, Travel & Lifestyle Blog - Chermaine Ho

My Gorgeous Sponsor this month is Chermaine.  Chermaine's Blog - http://chermaineho.blogspot.co.uk is absolutely stunning and Chermaine is such a nice girl.. Read some more about Chermaine below.

LIFE
My name is Chermaine and I'm 22 this year. I'm born and bred (for the most part) in sunny ol' Singapore, but am currently studying for a degree in marketing and finance at the University of Melbourne, Australia.  I love all things pretty, traveling, playing the piano, taking pictures, going shopping, reading, and playing Netball.

BLOGGING
I started blogging when I was a wee teenager, and it has been something that I cannot give up on. Although I may close my blog for a few months with the determination that I'll never blog again, I will always end up right where I came from. I have changed my blog link countless times, and in the midst of it, I deleted my first few blogs. I really regretted it because it's the only way I could look back on my life, and revisit scenes from my past.

WHY BEAUTY?
I have always been an avid fashion-lover, and never a beauty-lover. However, at the beginning of this year, I came to the realization that I am not getting any younger and I have to take care of my face. I don't wanna get wrinkles! I guess because of that, I decided to start blogging about beauty. As I have always been blogging, I just turned my attention towards beauty blogging. However, I still feel the need to blog about lifestyle as blogging is like writing a diary to me, so I do infuse lifestyle posts here and there. To my surprise, there is actually a really big community of beauty bloggers out there! In all my years as a blogger, I never expected the community to be so big! (Lol ok I know, I sound so noob here.) And thanks to all you guys out there, I started learning so much more about beauty than an average person could have learn without this community.

Chermiane is also on Twitter - do say hi, she's very friendly @chermaineho

30 Before 30 - The Results…..!

Well lovelies, it happened, last month I turned 30.  It is something that I wasn't really looking forward to.  People ask me why I was so bothered about it and my answer is simple.  I had children early 20s so they vanished.  I am however looking forward to my 30s and what the will bring.

As you know, I set myself a 30 before 30 challenge months ago.  Well here is how I did.

New York Photo Diary 2013

As most of you will all be aware, last month I celebrated my 30th Birthday in style by visiting my beloved New York City.    I have had many requests from readers asking to see some photos so my friends, here you are.

New York City, November 15-20th 2013

These beautiful horses are lined up on the outskirts of Central Park.  We just had to take a ride.

The first place I wanted to go was without a doubt to the 9/11 Memorial. I wanted to pay my respects and it was simply stunning.  I felt a hint of eeriness being there after watching it all unravel on television all those years ago but it was somewhat peaceful, very beautiful.

This is Dave and I at Times Square.  Times Square is such a spectacular, busy place!  Our first visit on the Saturday evening was rather intimidating given the amount of people, however, we did visit here every day on the trip and it was definitely a little quieter thereafter.   We took in the Lion King and Annie shows - both were absolutely brilliant!!

Central Park was definitely my favourite place in New York.  The array of colours of the trees this season were so nice.

High Tea in the Plaza Hotel, so scrummy.  I was surprised with a birthday platter and my waiter sang Happy Birthday to me along with the Grand Piano.  Blush!

Ice Skating Rink - Central Park with the Plaza hotel in the back ground.

I am a huge 'Friends' fan and one of the 'things to do' on my list was visit the apartment building from the show.  Check!!

Ah, Fifth Avenue, I love you.

Definitely the highlight of the trip, I got to meet the Lovely Lesley Hernandez of Bravenezz.com, Leslie and I started blogging around the same time and we have been 'virtual' friends for well over a year.  Leslie took me shopping and then we had a wonderful dinner and drinks with my husband and her sister Mariella.  When we said goodbye we promised it wouldn't be good bye forever, just for now.

Bloomingdales!!

I took this photo during our Helicopter flight over the City.  It was such a gorgeous day.

I have always found the Statue of Liberty to be a little creepy.  I over came this and found the visit to see her and Ellis Island awesome!  I actually thought the statue itself would be a lot taller, it is almost as large as the podium she sits on.

The Empire State Building - We went to the top and the views were simply breathtaking.

Dave bought me a beautiful bracelet from Tiffany's for my 30th.
Spoilt rotten.

A walk in the park.

Another view from Ground Zero

The Ball Drop

Posing on the bridge - Central Park

Very windy - top of Empire State

So many pictures of the Park, and I could have taken so many more.

We walked to Brooklyn, the Brooklyn Bridge, another stunning piece of architecture

Of course I had to do some skating - This is the most upright I was the whole time.

I hope you have enjoyed this little preview into my trip. It was by far the best trip I have ever been on and I will go back one day I hope.  If you are planning a trip to NYC, I totally recommend mid November, the weather was beautiful and the crowds were definitely less.  We hardly queued for any of the sites and believe me we crammed them all in.

Jane Iredale - In Touch Cream Blush - Review

Image of Jane Iredale In Touch Cream Blush

This gorgeous cream blush from Jane Iredale is simply divine.  It is packaged in a dinky gold tube with the Jane Iredale logo delicately written on the front in light gold.

This shade, 'Connection' is a really sweet rosy toned blush and it literally glides on to the cheeks leaving a healthy subtle glow - great if you are going for a dewy finish.

I like to apply this blush, like I do with any other of my cream blush products, with a stippling brush.  This product is so build able, you needn't worry about any annoying residue causing havoc and taking up your time.

I love this product even more on the days that I feel a bit 'squiffy', it really brightens up the complexion.  It contains the tiniest hint of shimmer and can be used on the lips for a beautiful natural look that will last you all day.  Pair this with a tinted moisturiser if you are in a rush and don't have time to put a full face of make up on.  You will feel fresh and confident.
Lately, I have become conscious of the pores around my cheek area becoming more visible and have noticed that some products sometimes emphasise them, however, this product doesn't seem to do this.

The only negative I have with this blush is the fact that it smells of chocolate, I think you either like that scent or you don't.  If you do, you will love this.

This Jane Iredale In Touch Cream Blush can be bought from My Beauty Time (link here).  It is available in 5 fabulous shades - the perfect treat for the party season.   Or even a stocking filler for a friend.  Oh and there is 20% off until December 31st just type XMAS20 on checkout!

Holiday time - lets get prepared

2 Sleeps till New York!  5 Sleeps till 30!  I am hoping to have a few more items scrubbed off my 30 before 30 Challenge soon!  The panic has definitely started to kick in along with the butterflies of excitement.     I am always so unorganised the week of the holiday countdown. However this time I am on track.

I have completely gutted the house for the baby sitters, and my holiday washing has been done (just needs to be ironed and packed).  I have all my travel details printed off, and emailed copies to myself!

Now I just have the pamper prep to sort out.   Last night I washed all my make up brushes, they currently smell gorgeous and are all soft and fluffy again.  I use my shampoo and conditioner to wash them and it works a treat.  I have a fairly strict routine, sounds nuts, but I am really particular about which brush I use for what.  I love the Real Techniques Buffing Brush for foundation application and I love the contour brush to blend in my concealer.

Tonight I amm going to do a fake bake then do my Sensationail Manicure - I recommend investing in this kit as it is amazing!  Then sort out my makeup bag for going away.  I'm not sure what the allowance is for going to America i.e. how many mls you are allowed to take on the plane with you.  So if any of you could fill me in on this, that would be great.   For the main make up bag - I am trying to travel as light as possible (going to be tricky), but going to pick the essential items and a day to night eyeshadow palette.  Will share my picks with you soon.

I have never really been on a long haul flight before so if there are any tips or essentials you would recommend I take with me, please leave me your thoughts.

Weekly ChitChat

I have had an exciting but busy few days, I'm also really looking forward to my trip to New York on Friday.  Part of my trip will involve meeting the gorgeous Leslie from the blog Bravenezz, we have been blogging friends for over a year now and it is really exciting the prospect of meeting her in person.

A month ago, I entered Mallzee's search for Top Scottish Blogger, well on Friday I got a fantastic email to say I had won their title and soon will have a lovely badge to display on my Blog.  I also won an IPad Mini.  I never win anything special so this really meant a lot to have been chosen.

On Friday I did some shopping in town and then I got my hair done.  I went for a bit of a drastic change and my hair is now red.  I'm still a little unsure as it's quite a change but sure it will grow on me.    That evening my family took me out for a meal to a gorgeous little restaurant 'Eat on the Green' which is absolutely gorgeous, 'home of the kilted chef', for a pre 30th celebration.  We had such a great night but was absolutely dying yesterday -  love a good glass of wine but the next day is never pretty.

Yesterday was a complete waste, I spent the day feeling sorry for myself watching a marathon of Xfactor recaps, not even UK Xfactor, I spent the day glued to the US Version - which in my opinion is a lot better.  Thing is, I am not even a fan, but the telly is that rubbish there wasn't a lot of options.

After a monster of  a sleep I got up at 11 today and after 2 cups of coffee feel a little more human.  Meeting a friend tonight for a light dinner and then we are going to see 'Gravity' at the cinema, I'm a big Sandy B fan.

Hopefully I will be able to do a few reviews before I go away on Friday.  So speak soon.
