Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation

Sssh. Can you keep a secret?

A little birdie, a while ago, whispered to me about Rimmel 'Wake me Up' foundation as a really great hight street brand.  I hadn't used Rimmel since I was about 18 so was a bit sceptical, but oh my she was right.

Rimmel have totally upped their game with this one.

I spend an absolute fortune on make up -  especially foundation -  since I use it everyday.  I really needed a good day wear foundation that was affordable to replace whilst giving me the best possible coverage for during the day so I could keep my more expensive brands for the weekend or special occasions.

This comes in a really nice glass bottle with a lovely orange lid and pump - compared to their old plastic tubes that I used to buy.

The Ivory shade is perfect for my pale skin tone and blends well into the skin giving me a flawless look.

The liquid isn't too heavy and feels light on the skin.
'Introducing Rimmel Wake Me Up, our first makeup that instantly reawakens skin with a healthy, radiant glow and minimises premature skin ageing.
A light, smooth texture for natural, 100% poreless coverage instantly eliminates signs of tiredness and lifts skin from fatigue. Radiance pearls illuminate for a healthy, radiant glow. Flawless natural finish. Peptides increase elasticity so skin recovers and bounces back more quickly. SPF 15 protects.'
6 Shades.
I haven't been using this long enough to state whether I believe that it will reduce premature skin ageing will have to update this post in 5 or so years.

Pair this with an ivory powder and you are good to go.  I can honestly say that this stays put through out the day - well unless i've been doing excessive exercise (she chuckles..hardly) or been out in the pouring rain.

So can you keep my secret?

A Makeup-Pixi3 Christmas Tag

Oh, thank goodness it is Thursday, I have been so tired this week.  To liven myself up a bit I thought I would do something fun, and what's more fun than a normal makeup tag?  A Christmas Tag!  Yay!

The lovely Makeup-Pixi3 created this fabby Christmas Tag and very kindly tagged me to do it!

Click here to read Makeup-Pixi3 answers :-)

Q.   What’s your favourite thing about Christmas?
Christmas is my all time favourite Holiday.  I love everything about Christmas and I particularly love the run up to it, i'm not one of these crazy people who has their Tree up in November but I am one of those annoying people who keeps it up too long into January.  If I had to choose a particular favourite thing, it would be spending quality time with all my family and having a giggle with some vino and lots of food.

Q.   What’s your favourite makeup look for the festive season?
I would say ruby red lips and smoky eyes.

Q.   Real tree or fake tree?
Unfortunately, I prefer a fake tree in my house.  Don't get me wrong I think the real deal is beautiful but I have OCD when it comes to fluff, or crumbs etc on my carpets, It absolutely drives me wild. I am person who has their hoover out 3 times daily and unfortunately that is no exaggeration.  So basically I could not cope with all the pine needles, the thought actually makes me anxious.

Q.   Giving presents or receiving presents?
Absolutely the giving of presents - I love to see the look on the persons face when they open something - especially if it is something that they really wanted.  Apparently I am the worst person to buy for - Have you ever seen Rachel from Friends receive a gift - that's me.  I was a right brat when I was younger.  I am not too bad now. Thankfully!

Q.   Do you open your presents Christmas morning or evening?

Christmas morning as I have 2 little boys who always have me up at the crack of dawn.  I'm impatient when it comes to presents I always want to open them when I'm given them, luckily my husband patience and he doesn't allow me to. So I go in a strop for a while lol.  He is right though it is far better to have more presents on Christmas morning.  I always regret it otherwise.

Q.   Handmade Christmas cards or bought?
I love to buy handmade cards for my nearest and dearest but have absolutely no time to do this myself.

Q.   What’s your favourite Christmas film?
My all time favourite Christmas film is Miracle on 34th Street - the original, then a Wonderful Life and of course no Christmas would be complete without watching ELF at least TWICE!!

Q.   What’s your favourite Christmas food?
This is a good question.
I love a Mince pie and a Caramel Macchiato when out doing my Christmas shopping.
The best bit of the Christmas Main Course is the Stuffing.
And my all time favourite pudding is Trifle

To do this post I tag:

Bellezakisses
Bravenezz
Tales of a Pale Face
Sweetpea London
Beauty Bird

I could sit here all day tagging people literally as there are so many of you I'd love to.  So if you are reading this - TAG YOU'RE IT!

Please link you answers back to me, gives me some lovely evening reading - Also please mention Makeup-pixi3 as the source of this tag in your post. xx

Inside Selfridges Lucky Bag

Last week, I blogged about the launch of Selfridges Lucky Bag (which are currently out of stock).  There were only 1000 of these bags available and I was chuffed to be able to get one since I missed out on the Beauty Box previously.

My Lucky Bag arrived on Friday, which was really quick delivery since I only opted for standard.

When it arrived, I was so excited that I just ripped it open.

This is what I got:

2x Nails Inc. Miniatures 4ml, anatomicals 'snog me senseless' mints, Duck Lip Balm, St Tropez everyday body moisturiser, Eyebrow Shape Gift Card, Nail Art - Correction Pen

First up, St Tropez Grandual Tan.  50ml this retails at £8.00.  I am pleased with this, I like St Tropez and this everyday body moisturiser will come in handy during the winter months giving you a gradual tan.  I probably would have been the shade light to medium but I don't think it will do me any harm to try the medium to dark provided.

This little duck is a lip balm.  I have never seen something like this in my life.  It retails at £2.49 but Selfridges do not sell this on their website, whether they do in store, I have no idea but to be honest this is not what I expected from Selfridges.  It's fun but tacky.  I will use it as I suffer from chapped lips a lot but wouldn't have thought this would come in a Selfridges bag. Oh well!
Very Cherry.  smells lovely, tastes of nothing...

I was absolutely delighted with these varnishes as I love Nails Inc.  These are the miniatures - 4ml per one. And they come in at £5.00 each.   I love Jermyn Street the best but i'm also partial to bright pink now and again so Notinghill Date is also a winner.

I'm actually really disappointed with this. Out of anything from the anatomicals range they decided to give their buyers Mints?  Come on Selfridges you could have done better than this.  I could have understood the likes of Superdrug (not in anyway dissing Superdrug, I happen to love that shop) including this in there lucky bags and I wouldn't have been disappointed but I did not expect to receive this from one of the most exclusive retailers out there.  FAIL.

Trying to think of something positive - I like the packaging it is really cute.  They are only £2.49 to buy but again these are not on the Selfridges website.

Nail Art Correction Pen £4.95 - I actually like this product it will come in very handy as I really don't have a steady hand when it comes to applying my nail varnish

Blink -Eyebrow Shape Gift Card - This can be redeemed in any of the 4 Selfridges Stores - Oxford Street, The Bullring - Birmingham, Manchester Exchange Sq and Manchester Trafford.  This would be quite good but I live in Aberdeen so will have no use for this.  Does anyone want it?  If so tweet me @laurziecooper and I will post this to you for free.

Overall I think I definitely got my monies worth with this as the bag itself was only £15. I did have higher expectations from Selfridges given the quality of their Beauty Boxes.  I however, after reading some other reviews on this bag do not think that I got the worst bag - I have seen some crackers out there which were diabolical.

Did you get this bag?  Were you a lucky winner of the £150 gift card?  What did you get?

Love to hear from you

NOTE  - The Gift Card has now gone, glad it's going to someone who can actually use it xx

Skin Etica Samples.

Last month in one of my beauty boxes I received a sample of Skin Etica which I did a review on.  Well a month on and my skin has never been better and I just had to write an update to tell you this.

I still have scaring from previous acne but that is only to be expected but this product really has done what it says on the bottle - Soothes, Calms & Clears.

I logged into the Skin Etica website to buy a larger bottle - £9.95 for 100 mls but I noticed that they are giving away free samples, just enter your name, email and address here and they will send you out a sample bottle like the picture above. I  ordered mine on Monday and it arrived today.  Think i'll get one sent to my mum, sister and mother-in-law too lol.  Cheeky?  Who cares.

It comes with a full set of instructions too. Let me know if you get this. But I can't recommend it enough.

NYC City Curls Mascara

Hello my lovelies!  I hope you had a magnificent weekend.

I was pretty busy, I had some lovely friends up from Edinburgh so my weekend is a bit on the fuzzy side!   Good fun.

I'm continuing on with my fav high street brands and I have been on the hunt for a top quality Mascara.    One that I think can compete with a more expensive brand.

NYC City Curls Mascara!!

This was originally sent to me from Leslie over at Bravenezz in my International Make Up swap and I loved it instantly. Unfortunately I was gutted because I lost it on a night out. To my joy I found when googling that Superdrug do the NYC brand and alas!  There it was, City Curls.  For a real bargain price of £2.49!  Whooppee

I have this in extreme black as you can see from the picture above and it comes in a pretty pink tube with silver writing on the side.  For £2.49 you are getting 8mls of product and because it is so cheap you can afford to replace it sooner than you would a more high end brand.  - Score!

The want itself has a really nice curve to the brush which makes coating the lashes so much easier and helps shape them too.

This is actually not a good photo I was also in a bit of a hurry to get this up that I didn't take the best time doing my mascara but take it from me it is very lovely and so far no gloops!

What's your favourite budge Mascara?

Lee Stafford Dry Shampoo Dark

Let me tell you a bit about my hair - It is very fine, but there is a lot of it!  It has a natural kink to it and it gets seriously oily over night.  I feel like i need to wash it everyday which is actually terrible for you hair as it gets rid of the natural goodness within.  That combined with daily blow drying and straightening is just a disaster.

For a while now a staple part of my toilet bag has been a dry shampoo, and I go through these like toilet paper (sorry I couldn't think of a classier metaphor lol).  And I just had to do a blog post about my most recent Dry Shampoo Favourite - Lee Stafford Dry Shampoo - Dark .  I had been looking for something like this since dying my hair brown for a while.
I literally use this every other day now and I just love it.  Because it is for dark hair it sprays a dark liquid (obvious I suppose)  so no more trying to get rid of white dust.    I section my hair off, spray onto the roots and then vigorously massage this in all over, as if i'm shampooing in a sense.   I'm not exagerating in the slightest when I say that this really makes a huge difference to my oily roots, Its as if the spray absorbs the oils at the roots and dries them out, giving my hair more bounce again.  I have even taken to no straightening on the second day and let the natural waves in my hair bounce away.

What Lee Says -
'Spray from about 16cm/ 6 inches onto the root area that needs revitalising then vigorously rub away the powder with your fingers... girl you are ready to go without having to blow'

They also do the Original and I believe there is also a spry for Mid Brown hair too.

This smells gorgeous too have had a lot of compliments about my hair smelling nice and that is down to this.

I bought mine from Boots for £5.49  my only criticism is that I wish that it came in a bigger can 150 mls just does not seem to be enough.  May be you know differently.. Is there a bigger can?   If so please let me know!

L'Oreal the powder - TRUE MATCH

Some of you may be aware of my unhealthy addiction to high end make up products and the fact that I have been trying to curb my spending recently.
I am really fussy when it comes to make up and it has to be of quality or it is just no use.  I have been advised that there were plenty high street brands which were great and also at a low price.  So I have set out to replace my normal make up bag with a high street one and I am reviewing my finds here piece by piece as and when I find something I am happy with.

My normal day to day powder would normally be Estée Lauder Double Wear and I really like it so I needed to find something that would give me the flawless coverage that I needed at half the price that also compared to the Double Wear i'm used to.  I think I have found it. ..

L'Oreal the powder - TRUE MATCH
'Super blendable, matches skin, colour and texture'

When I first bought this, I wasn't entirely confident in my purchase and actually threw it in one of my dressing table drawers for about a week.  The only reason I actually took it out again is because I couldn't be bothered nipping downstairs to get my normal one from my hand bag and I was in a hurry. So I thought 'what the heck' i'll just give it a go.

You get 9g of product for your money and it comes in this cute little compact.  The powder section lifts up where you will find a little applicator sponge and there is also a mirror built in - really handy for your hand bag.

I chose this colour in Golden Beige, I actually thought that this may be too dark for me, however, I'm not sure how but it did adjust to the colour of my skin (or at least the foundation underneath) I thought I was going to look a bit orange (you know the look when your face is a different colour to your neck) but I wasn't at all.

You do get a sponge with this however I use my Kabuki brush to apply the powder to my face and I am very impressed with the coverage for day wear.  It really compliments my foundation.    I probably wouldn't wear this in the evenings if I were going out because I prefer a heavier coverage on a night out.  But if you are looking for a top quality budget powder for during the day, I really would recommend you give this ago.

I purchased this in Boots for £8.19 and it comes in 7 different shades.

MUA Glamour Days

Hi everyone, I hope you had a good weekend.  I don't know about you but I was totally shattered.  So didn't really do much but sleep, stuff my face and watch tv.  Have had a couple of hectic weekends lately so to be honest it was really nice to chillax.

Today's post is on MUA Glamour Days eye shadow palette.

This is a really nice palette if you want to spice up your day look and give it a bit of vavavooom!

It has 12 highly pigmented shades of beautiful colour.  I really love them all.  What I will say is that if you are not a fan of shimmer shades and prefer matte shadows then this isn't for you as there are only 3 matte shades - charcoal, light brown and a light peach.  The rest are all designed to make your eyes twinkle.

I honestly can't fault MUA so far for there Palettes for £4.99 they are exceptional and with an eyeshadow primer they last the entire day.  If you don't use a primer for you eye shadow and wonder why they crease within a few hours, or the colour starts to fade - this is the reason.  A primer really is a must as a base before you do your eyemake up - but i'm sure you all already know this!!

My favourite shades in this palette are Dark Turquoise, and the Shimmery Pink. Just lovely.  Can't wait to try the others out.

Do you like Glamour Days?  Do you like Glamour Nights - i think this will be my next buy.
