GHD Stylers Scarlet Deluxe Collection Set

Good evening everyone, this afternoon I was going to publish my Friday Favourites but have decided to leave them and make them my my favourites for tomorrow - what's a day.  This is due  to a parcel left on my doorstep today...

10 months ago, I accidentally stood on my Coriolis hair straightners

10 months ago, I was forced to tape them up and 'make do'

10 months of trying to convince my husband that I need a new pair, that the pair I have are a dangerous fire hazard... I was allowed to order a new pair.

After 3 weeks of chasing up and eagerly anticipating the door bell ringing....

the day has finally come :-)

I get to put these where they belong.

In the bin!

because....  look what arrived this afternoon...

My brand new

GHD Stylers Scarlet Deluxe Collection Set

I am really pleased with these, they came in a really lovely box (which solves some makeup storage problems), a sexy little purse, heat protective cover, 2 clips and a travel hair dryer.  Not bad for £99.00.

My old hair straightners got plenty of use that is for sure, but were literally tearing my hair to pieces.  I simply cannot wait to use these!
am one happy little blogger tonight :-)

A little bottle of Sunshine

This is Neutrogena Visibly Clear Pink Grapefruit Daily Scrub.

I would describe this little beauty as nothing more than a burst of sunshine  in a bottle.

Lately my skin has been feeling really dry, especially in areas around my forehead and around my cheeks and jawline.  I have been really run down my skin has been sore from an outbreak of acne -  all in all pretty poor shape, feeling yucky.

I picked this up in Boots for £4.95 (but think it may even be cheaper in the likes of Tesco).  I thought I would give it ago as nothing ventured nothing gained.

I applied a little of this product on my hands and added a little warm water. I then massaged the formula all over my face, concentrating on the most problematic areas.  I do this for a bout 3 minutes a time, to get the blood flowing under the skin.  The micro beads are designed to attack and clean out any pores.

After this, I rinsed with some warm water and dried my skin down, patting gently.

My skin was left feeling clean, fresh and energised.

I have been using this since Monday and see a difference in the softness of my skin and as a result my make up seems to be sitting better.

If you, like me, love the smell of pink grapefruit then you will love this.  It is beautiful and I  can smell it lingering on me until I go t to put on my make up.

You can use this product morning and night, unlike some other facial scrubs that are only recommended one application weekly.

Be careful not to get it in your eyes as it will sting and cause irritation, if this happens, as the directions state 'rinse immediately with warm water'

Glossy Box

After a night of being super envious of everyone's Glossy Boxes for August, I have subscribed just in time for the September one.  I am so excited.

What does everyone think of theirs, is it as good as it seems?

Scent of a Man

'a bit woodier than i'm used to'

I was speaking with my sister on Skype yesterday as she lives in Milan and we were laughing because she has recently returned from a holiday in Lake Como - she had forgotten to take her perfume with her.   So, she decided to bag the free samples in the hotel she was staying in and thought that they would do for a couple of days.

After arriving home and finishing off the final sample that was safely stowed in her handbag she was thinking to herself, 'I really like that, I wonder if you can buy it somewhere?' She types the words ‘Cartier Declaration’ into a Google search only to discover that it is in fact a Cologne for men.

We both had never heard of it but she is happy because it is sold in all of the major perfume shops.  I, a bit horrified, said ‘you aren’t going to continue wearing it are you?’  She quite matter of factly replied ‘why not if it smells good? It is a bit woodier than what I’m used to but it smells fresh’.  Good for you sis, what a good attitude to have.

Which has led me to this question…

Is it socially acceptable for women to wear men’s cologne?

I personally love a variety of different colognes, however, the odd ‘scoosh’ here and there is ok and if my husband has been offshore for a while I like to spray my pillow with his ‘BOSS’ - I find this somewhat comforting.  In saying that, I don’t want to be walking around recognizably smelling like a man.

Perhaps this is a confidence issue? Am I too embarrassed?  My sister is right though, if it smells good then why not?

I have a guilty secret…

My all time favourite cologne - which I sneak into his Christmas stocking, has to be ‘Eternity for Men’ by Calvin Klein.  Whether he likes it or not his annual bottle is always there, he can guess what it is before he has unwrapped it because the scent is on the wrapping paper from me smelling it before hand J.

I could not actually pin point what exactly I love so much about this fragrance but it is so seducing and extremely sexy -  it drives me crazy.  I love how the scent lingers all day …… oooh goose pimples.  If I could spray this on myself and wear it all day everyday then I would – I confess…maybe one of these days I will be naughty and do just that. It would be interesting to know what men think of ladies wearing their colognes?

Calvin Klein -  “Men have to be sensual without losing their manhood and power”

Since you now know my guilty pleasure, what is your favourite cologne and what do you like your man to smell of?

Thanks for reading

I came across Bloggers Unite which is a great site to meet new people and discover new blogs.  I tried to add the button but it didn't work for me so here is the link to their fabby page

Love Laurzie

A Dress for your..... Face?!

You wouldn't go out naked now would you..

Since having my children, something in my hormone levels must have changed because my skin thinks that I am a teenager again and frequently experience outbursts of acne - it must be karma kicking me in the butt as when I was at school, I really was one of the lucky ones who didn't get many spots and if I did it usually was one huge carbuncle that needed to be treated with antibiotics - BIG THUMBS DOWN.

I feel naked without my foundation on and i think it is a dress for your face - you wouldn't go out without your clothes on.... would you....?

I have tried many.  I used to wear Estee Lauder Lucidity 00 and was devastated when the brand  discontinued the range.

I need a Foundation that gives me plenty of coverage.  I now wear the Estee Lauder Double Wear in Ecru 1N1 (I have also used 1W1 Bone).

This gives me the coverage I need and I rarely have to use a concealer with it (don't speak too soon Laura!).  I apply this in the morning as normal and by dinner time I still have perfect coverage -  I mean unless i've been out jogging or scrubbing the house - and believe me this isn't very often.  Although this is quite a thick foundation it feels lightweight and non greasy.

If I have been wandering around the shops, trying things on and what have you, I may just need to dry up any perspiration forming with the Double Wear pressed powder (also in Ecru).

Recently, I was beginning to wonder if I wore too much makeup and tried a foundation that was a little bit lighter. I had read a lot of good things about it.  The Foundation in questions was the Chanel Vitalumière Aqua No 12 Beige Rosè

I bought this and I was expecting great things from all the reviews I had read but sadly this product really wasn't for me.  Although it was a lovely shade and great texture, there wasn't the coverage I needed to feel confident, I actually felt like i was wearing more of a tinted moisturiser.. hundreds of you will disagree with me because I have never seen a bad review on this.   Saying that it is Chanel and for £31 I was not throwing this away.  I will use it on my holiday when I start to get a suntan and hopefully won't need as much coverage as I normally do.

I have been given a sample of the new YSL Touche Éclat Foundation and I am going to try it out as my' Foundation of the Month' for September so look out for a review.

I'd be interested in finding out what you all wear to 'dress your face' so do tell xxxxxx

Summer Lippy

Summery pink lipstick shades are a must for summer. My favourite one at the moment is Estée Lauder Long Lasting Lipstick No 16 Candy Shimmer, I particularly love the shine and the silky smooth application. At the moment the Estée Lauder counter in your local John Lewis store should an offer on where if you buy any two products (one of which has to be skin care) you get a free gift. Part of the free gift includes this lipstick. The other items are: mini skin tone illuminator, mini day wear moisturiser, truly sumptuous mascara, eyeliner, eyeshadow palette,  pleasures perfume, lipstick and all this comes in a gorgeous make up bag.

September Wishes

Diesel LOVERDOSE Perfume - there is a free sachet of this perfume stuck to one of the pages of this months Glamour Magazine and I have been rubbing it on my wrists and neck every chance I get, It has such a lush sweet scent, I just love it. I have decided to invest in a bottle as the sticky bit on the mag is more or less done.  My children keep looking at me like I am insane and they say 'mummy, which are you rubbing paper on yourself?'... they are boys, they will never 'get it'.

Dior Skin Flash Primer - I am going to buy this as my sister uses this and it looks great.  I want to compare it with my current YSL Touche Èclat.

Beauty Box - It drives my husband absolutely crazy seeing all my make up products scattered allover my dressing table and literally spilling out of the drawers.  I am forever 'getting into trouble' :-( So to keep Mr Grumpy Pants happy, I have decided the time has come to invest in a proper Beauty Box to keep my ever expanding collection neat and tidy... Any suggestions where I can get a good, cheapish one?

Eye Make Up Remover - I am on the hunt for a decent eye make up remover.  I currently only use facial wipes to remove my make up and it is a hit or miss whether the mascara or liner come off at once, I am usually scrubbing it off my face and my eyelids and under eyes are left feeling irritated.  This also can cause damage to the tissue around the eyes,  any help on this matter appreciated.

Karen Millen Check Skirt - Skirts play a major role in my day to day lifestyle, I love a nice skirt and the way they make me feel when they are on.  Don't get me wrong, I love a skinny jean but my love for skirts is stronger.

Well, I when I was in Karen Millen the other day I came across a gorgeous red check skirt with ruffle detail to the front, it fit like a glove.  I resisted the temptation to buy it as I had already gone over my shopping budget for August.  £110, I couldn't justify spending when I still had one last weeks grocery shopping to buy.  I could go without food for it but I think my children and husband would have something else to say about that.

So this is on my September shopping wish list as another month, another BUDGET!!  ;-)  watch this space xxxx

A Purple Rinse in your 20s?

Purple Rinse for in your 20s? Firstly let me just say good evening everyone, whatever you are all up to? It is a very wild and blustery night here where I am, and the wind is still rising. Where has our summer gone? Now to get to the point of this post.
I am a fairly new 'Blondie' and have been finding that a few weeks after bleaching, my hair is begins to take on a brassy look. Daily life takes its toll on your hair and it is important to protect it as best we can. One way for Blondes to do this is to use something called Purple Shampoo. I had never heard of this in my life, it was my wonderful hairdresser, Fiona, who recommended it to me so off to the chemist I went. Scanning the aisle for it not really having a clue what it was I was searching for - I first chose Provoke 'Touch of Silver' which is a twice a week brightening Shampoo. I used this product until it was finished but really I didn't think it worked for me at all. I never saw a difference and was quite disappointed. It also seemed to take forever to rinse the colour out of my hair. I soon gave up. A few months passed and as I was browsing the shelves in Boots I came across 'BLEAch BLondes Shampoo' by Lee Stafford. I purchased this along with the recommended Lee Stafford Bleach Blondes Conditioner. The thick silky purple shampoo, which smells lush, is a toning shampoo and is designed to get rid of any brassy tones whilst restoring your colour. I have been using this shampoo and conditioner for a three weeks now and I am so impressed with it. I can see a visible difference in the colour of my hair - it looks more blended. It has also given my hair a boost of radiance and shine. It will help me through till my next hairdressers appointment. The packaging advises not to use this Shampoo everyday nor to leave it on too long. You should alternate with another shampoo to prevent over toning. I bought mine from Boots and it cost £6.39. Some might say that that is a bit extreme price to pay for a shampoo but it is honestly worth it. Plus because you are not using it every day, but once a week you will have it for a good while before having to replace it again. Very Happy. I must add that you are allowed to use the BB Conditioner every day however, I decided not to and to keep it when I do my ritual of purple rinsing ;-)

Feeling Pale?

Summer is truly disappearing as I lookout my window to a very blustery Aberdeenshire day. Whilst getting ready this morning I realised that I really must start my self tanning regime again. I am not just white i'm pretty certain there is some purple in there too!! I am a fan of the 'Fake Bake' range and currently sitting on my bathroom shelf is the Fake Bake Mousse which I used regularly before my holiday to Crete in April. I find the task of apply fake bake such a chore but being a very busy mum, I don't often get the opportunity to go and get a spray tan. I have been reading up on 'Vita Liberata' apparently the 'The World's Frist 2-3 Week Tan' I would be interested to hear anyones experience and thoughts on this product and would you recommend I buy it? Thanks L xxxx.

Hair Straightners

I am eagerly anticipating the arrival of my new GHD stylers. For the past 2 years I have been using the C2 model by Coriolis. However, I accidentally stood on these a while back and they snapped. I taped them back together and persevered.

The plates have become worn and are quite literally tearing through my hair. I have been researching new tongs and whittled my choices down to She, GHD or old reliable Coriolis.

In the end I opted to go for GHD classic styler which is due to arrive any day now so will be back with a review of them soon!

Maybelline Super Stay 10hr Lip Gloss

I picked up this product in Boots yesterday as I was in desperate need for some new gloss.  I had never tried this before so thought I would give it a whirl...

The packaging is really cute and slightly different to your bog standard glosses.  I will be completely honest - if it looks cute or quirky then I am sold!  Probably not the best attitude to have but I can't help it.

I got up this morning to go shopping in town so instead of using my normal lipstick I decided to try this out.

I chose the shade 'Forever Coral', I like bright vibrant sexy shades and that sums this one up.  The applicator tip doesn't leave much to the imagination if you catch my drift but it applies the gloss superbly.  The gloss goes on quite thick and has a silky texture.  Your lips immediately look fuller and lively.  I thought my lips gave off a tingling sensation (ooh er!) a bit like the ones that are designed to plump up your lips.  They certainly felt plump.

This lip gloss smelt really tasty, like strawberry sweetie bon bons, I actually wanted to eat it but not!

Now onto the '10hr tint' um...more like 20 mins and a cappuccino later and I'm sorry to say that it had to be reapplied.   I have read several reviews where people have commented on this looking vibrant and full after food and drink but in my opinion and experience this was not the case. I had to reapply this after every beverage.  Luckily, this didn't phase me one way or the other, yes it would have been easier not to have to reapply but the colour is so gorgeous I'm one happy bunny!

As far as I am aware there is only 5 shades of colour in this product sold by Boots which are :-

Forever Coral, Lasting Pink, Endless Ruby, Forever Fuscia and Timeless Plum

For only £6.99 which is a bargain compared to some of the higher end budgets I will definitely be investing in another shade - I'm being tempted by the 'Endless Ruby'especially with Crimbo coming up.

One for your Santa lists ladies.

disclaimer:  I bought this product and this review is based on my own opinion

When a diet pays off - treat yourself :-).

Well, I have been in the Exante diet for 23 days now and I have lost a whopping 10lbs.

I didn't know if I could see a huge difference but have noticed that my clothes are looser.

Well I went into Next today and bought myself a brand new pair of 'skinny' jeans (by the way I am in no ways skinny) an entire dress size smaller so I am just delighted! It certainly gives you the boost to keep the hard work up.

Big smiles :-)

Fandabidozi eyeliner!!!!

Since I have decided to start reviewing products I do really feel that I must, must MUST tell you about a fantastic new eyeliner that I came across today -

Yes that's right it is 'Maybelline Eye studio Lasting Drama'

This is a gel based eyeliner that is said to be 24hr non transfer, I mean I only bought it today so only time will tell how long it lasts throughout the day.  I have to admit I tried it on just now as you will see in a coming picture and it was mega difficult to get off :-/

This particular colour I bought is 'No 01 Intense Black' and it comes in a cute little jar with a silver lid.  Also provided in the box is an eyeliner brush which is suitable for providing a fine or thick line depending on your mood, style or occasion.

When I first opened the
lid and took the top off the brush it reminded me very much of an old pen and ink set.  The liquid itself is very thick and id say has the consistency of a lip balm.

If you are like me and a absolutely terrible at applying eyeliner due to having a shaky hand- can do left eye all right for some reason but the right one always appears a bit squiffy then this product is for you. I found the brush so simple to use and the application was pretty flawless for me :-)

I bought this in Tescos and it cost me £7.99 and worth every penny.

I give this product a massive 5 stars.  Happy happy

Let me know what you think of this product!!  If you don't like it then let me know  Also if ther is any products you would like me to review for you send me some feedback.

Disclaimer:  I bought this myself and this is my opinion only.
