A really good Orgasm...

For a long time now I have been lusting after the famous NARS 'Orgasm' blush, I had heard so many great things about it.  More frustratingly I actually did purchase this once, however, it was for my first giveaway.  It was so difficult seeing this in my dressing table and knowing that I could not touch it.

Anyway, a very dear friend of mine gave me some money for Christmas and I treated myself to some make up from Selfridges.  The first item I searched for and added to my basket was of course the aforesaid blush.

The package arrived super quick.  That is one of the things I love about online shopping with Selfridges, even up here in stixville you normally receive your goods within 48 hours.

The day the parcel arrived, I tore into the parcel like a woman possessed.

My first impression of the product was actually 'WOW, thats quite small'  I was actually expecting something a little larger' the photos on the website are quite deceiving.  Nevertheless, this is amazing.

Orgasm is a beautiful pink/peachy shade and just glides onto the skin flawlessly giving you a subtle dazzle of colour.  It is highly pigmented but not over powering.  It isn't at all flakey i.e. there isn't a ridiculous amount of residue whilst applying.  There is nothing more annoying, especially if you have a cream bedroom carpet.

I am totally in love with this blusher it is amazing.  I am big on blushers and adore trying new ones.

This does cost £21 but you get the quality you pay for.  You will receiving 4.5g of product and it also comes in 12 shades of amazing colour :

Angelika
Orgasm
Deep Throat
Desire
Dolce Vita
Douceur
Exhibit A
Liberte
Luster
Satellite of love
Torrid
Super Orgasm

I was definitely not disappointed with this purchase.  Do you own this product - What are your thoughts?  I'd love to hear.

If you do fancy trying this and don't have the option to buy in your town (like me) then I do recommend Selfridges Online.  You can buy this here if you want to treat yourself.

Finally, I would like to wish each and everyone of you a tremendous New Years Eve and all the best for   2013.  I look forward to hearing from you in the New Year.

Much Love

Blogmas Day 15 - Glossybox Christmas Edition

Today I received my December Glossybox.  I have been eagerly waiting in anticipation of it's arrival because I expect special things of a beauty box at Christmas.  I have to tell you, I was not disappointed this year.

Inside..

This month was delivered in a stylish silver gift box and inside was the most beautiful black and stars tissue paper tied with a silver ribbon

Rituals Magic Touch whipped body cream - Cherry Blossom
This smells absolutely gorgeous, a beautiful sweet floral scent, the lotion is nice, not at all sticky

'Lemon' by Mary Greenwell Sample Perfume
I have to be completely honest, this smells horrid, just not my cup of tea at all

Argentum Anti Ageing Sachet x2
I have never tried this before but the packaging is easy on the eye so i'm looking forward to give it ago. it is 95% Natural product

Sleek - True Colour Lip Stick - Shade - Stiletto
This is a Ruby Red lippy by Sleek and it is my favourite product in the box, I was truly thrilled to receive it and it is a gorgeous colour and beautiful on.

Seche Nail Lacquer - Shade - Hypnotic
First impressions of this is good, it is a stunning colour and I am really looking forward to trying it.

Lastly, the bonus item in the box is..

Glossy Blush
This is a lovely pink shade and is very pigmented, you get 2.5 grams of product.  I do sometimes think it's a bit of a cop out including their own products but I have to say that this is just adorable

Overall, I am absolutely delighted with this edition.  I feel that Glossbox have made a real effort to deliver something special for Christmas - compared with some of the other (i'll leave nameless) beauty boxes.

I have a You Tube review of this box up on my channel now which you can view here if you are interested.

Did you get your box?  What was in it?

Blogmas Day - 14 - Chanel Vitalumére Aqua

My new favourite High End Foundation

I have to start this post by saying that I would like to retract a statement I made in one of my first ever blog posts - 'A dress for your face' I wrote: -

'I bought this and I was expecting great things from all the reviews I had read but sadly this product really wasn't for me'.

I also went onto mention that because of the price I paid for it, I wasn't just going to throw it in the bin... I'm so glad I didn't.

Since, paying more attention to my skin care routine and finally beginning to have a clearer complexion again I decided to give Vitalumére a second chance and I'm actually delighted with it.  It is far lighter to wear during the day than my Double Wear that I would normally use, and I finally don't feel so 'caked' and because my acne is disappearing the Vitalumére is all I need for a subtle flawless look.

I have found this foundation very build able and it has covered any sun damage or broken veins on my face.   My face looks fresh and it doesn't look like I'm wearing a lot of make up when it is on.  I can't afford to replace this all the time so I have been switching this weekly my Rimmel Wide Awake Foundation.

The only con I'd say that:-

1 - I have with this is that I do feel that I need to touch my make up more often if I do not set it with powder from the onset.

2 - I would probably opt for a heavier foundation i.e Double Wear if I were going on a night out for slightly heavier coverage - a more made up 'do'.

Do you use this?  What do you think of this product?

Blogmas Day 13 - Rebel Nails Festive Wraps

Today, I bring to you Rebel Nails - Nail Wraps.

I have been purchasing nail wraps from 'Rebel Nails' for over a year now - after a long period of my 20s wearing falsies.  These are far cheaper, last double the time and are super easy to apply.

I ordered these pretties last week (and tonight I though I better stock up on some more).

Obviously since it is Christmas time, I opted for some lovely festive wraps which I just adore.  Rebel Nails stock an extensive selection of wraps for all times of the year.
How to apply

Always, always apply to dry & clean nails

Select suitable size for each nail using the template provided and place over the nail with the CURVED end to cuticle

Buff nails well especially sides and edges.  Peel nails from backing holding only the straight edge TIP (avoid touching curved end)

Place curved end as close as possible to the cuticle without touching the skin

Gently pull excess wrap over the nail tip - press and smooth with thumb to avoid creasing

File excess using downward strokes at 45 degree angle.  Remove excess as soon as free.

For longer lasting results - apply a little heat to the wraps using a hairdryer and remove creases by applying pressure to the nail

Voila, gorgeous, festive nails for Christmas, I can't wait to try out my glittery penguin ones.

Be warned, everyone will be after your nail wraps - even your 3 year old sons :-)

Hope you enjoy and give them a try.

You can visit Rebel Nails here

Blogmas Day 11 - Eye Candy - Shocking

YSL Shocking Mascara is shamazing!!!

This creates thick, long, wowing lashes - you'd be forgiven if you actually thought a person was wearing fake lashes - it's that awesome.  It has super staying power and doesn't transfer i.e  you don’t have to worry about having panda eyes an hour after application- as it lasts the duration!

Bear not included :-)
The only negative I have (and really it's not a negative in the grand scale of things) but I'd advise caution when applying as you can't use this mascara in a hurry, you need to take time applying as it could have the potential to go on clumpy as it is a thick formula,  but if your paying attention to what you're doing, then this shouldn't be a concern!

I love love this Mascara, the results truly are Shocking!!

At £23 it is a little more pricey than your average drug store product, but with the benefits you reap, it more than pays for itself.  Plus if you want to purchase it for yourself right now, then Debenhams have 10% off so you get it for £20.70.....every little helps!!!

Further more, the packaging is gorgeous with reflective gold and black italic "Shocking" embossed on the front - a little piece of makeup bag luxury.

Blogmas Day 10 - Perfect Skin For Xmas - La Roche Posay & Bioderma

The Festive Party Season is upon us, Whoooohooo, and I don’t know about you,  But I  am seriously looking forward to getting the Sparkly, Glittery makeup on, teamed with high heels and a super cute dress......thats if it weren't for the awful skin outbreak that recently took over my Chin, epic FAIL!!!

I’ve been really busy the last few weeks, with Stress, comes Spots.  My body gets completely run down by my emotions and reacts by normally taking it out on my skin, that coupled with the #howtogetfatquicksxmasdiet of Chocolate and all things comfort, does not bode for a particularly good combination!!  With only  3 weeks until Christmas, I needed to take action...and take it now!!

The two products that I have recently discovered, are certainly not new to the market, but they are new to me – Bioderma (Sensibo H20) and La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo!!

Now we all know that Bioderma has been on the market for forever, but it is incredibly  difficult to get your hands on here in the UK, but is readily available in Europe and in particularly France. Luckily for me, my sister lives in Italy and her local Pharmacy sells it, so she is bringing me some home for my stocking :-)

Bioderma gently cleanses and removes makeup from face and eyes,  simply soak a cotton pad in the solution and use all over the face to remove your makeup.  The formula “effectively micro emulsifies impurities whilst maintaining the cutaneous balance”.  This product is super soothing , and doesn't irritate the skin or cause redness.  It just leaves your skin refreshed and feeling so clean!!  I actually used this after using my normal cleanser to remove my makeup, so I was convinced before applying the Bioderma that all my makeup was off......boy was I wrong!!  I was actually shocked at how dirty the cotton pad was after using the Bioderma and how much makeup still came off.  Whilst my normal cleanser took the visible makeup off the surface, there was still so much blocking my pores!! Bioderma really cleanses the skin, and the difference you feel is amazing and that’s not an exaggeration.

My Skin has been able to breathe and as a result my pores are no longer suffocating under layers of makeup that up until now , I didn't even realise was there!! As a result, my pores are no longer blocked, which means my skin is no longer breaking out...RESULT.   I’ve no idea why Bioderma is not available to buy in the UK, but I seriously think that someone needs to remedy this as Bioderma is a MUST have skin essential and would literally fly off the shelves it would be that popular!!!

The next product I had never heard of so would never think of trying it but, is La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo, my sister sent me over some raving about it.  This is a Corrective and Unclogging Anti-Imperfection Care Serum that you apply all over the face day and night after cleansing. It reduces the appearance of imperfections such as hyperpigmentation and unclogs sebum-blocked pores.

I am so thankful for this recommendation and cant praise this product enough.  I have been using this primarily on my chin area as this is where I have had a really bad breakout, and 4 days in....I can hand on heart say that my skin has become less irritated, my spots have started to clear up, the redness and scarring leftover from spots has really reduced, and the overall appearance of my skin has improved so much. I have been trying so many different products to try and help clear up my spots and nothing has come even close to achieving the results that I have found using Effaclar Duo, and I’ve only been using it for 4 days!! AaaaaMaaaaZING!!

Using both the Bioderma and Effaclar Duo has given my skin a new lease of life, just in in time for the festive period.  I am so pleased  with the results, that I’m now much happier with my skin, and feel much more  confident for the impending party season that will involve of course “Rocking around the Christmas Tree”!!!!

Laura xx

P.s La Roche-Posay products are available to buy in the UK and are stocked at Boots and many others. I looked online for Effaclar Duo and Boots was unfortunately sold out, so Its just a case of keeping your eyes open for when it comes back in stock!)

Blogmas Day 4 - Make a Wish, make a difference

Make a wish Foundation is a UK and International Charity that I hold close to my heart, was launched in 1986, and since then it has granted over 8,100 wishes to Children and Young people who are living with life threatening conditions.

In 2012, around '1400 children and young people turned to Make a Wish Foundation to have a special wish granted' and Make a Wish wants to grant this to all of them.

They needed £6.8million to achieve this and over 650 volunteers.

Without this Charity the dreams of the seriously ill would not come true.

This Christmas, why not do something special and donate to this Charity.
If each and everyone of you (my followers) clicked on this link along with me now and donated just £1.00 that would be £350!  Amazing just like that.  I"m not here to force people to donate but at this time of year, I think it is important to take five minutest to think of people less fortunate that ourselves.  And today I have been thinking of them.

'Make-A-Wish is affiliated to Make-A-Wish Foundation® international -  www.worldwish.org. It is now the largest wishgranting organisation in the world and helps to serve children in 48 countries on five continents through its 36 affiliate offices.'

Some Wishes  (taken from the website)-

  • The very first wish was for Anthony from Liverpool who, with his family, went to meet the Disney characters in Disney World, Florida.

  • Our 100th wish in 1989 was also the first wish to be granted in Scotland. 16 year old Clark from Balerno wished to go on a US aircraft carrier and see an F14 jet. This very exciting wish took place in the Mediterranean only two weeks before Heads of State joined the ship for a summit meeting.

  • In November 1989 the first wish in Wales was granted. 14 year old Louise from Rhyl went with her family to experience all the sights and thrills of Disney World, Florida.

  • Also that month, the first wish in Northern Ireland was granted. 16 year old Gary from Benburb wished to visit his uncle who worked at Disneyland, California. Very sadly, Gary died a short while after his wish.

  • 1,000th wish – Jessica, aged ten and from Grimsby, had her wish, to meet the Beast from Beauty and the Beast, granted at a very special occasion – Make-A-Wish UK's 10th anniversary party. The huge Beast, as tall as the ceiling, entered the room carrying a red rose. He approached Jessica, who was dressed in her pretty yellow Beauty dress, and invited her onto the dance floor. There wasn't a dry eye in the room!

  • 5,000th wish – ten year old Ciara from Wigan, living with a Brain Tumour, had her wish granted in August 2008 when she was a model for the day in London.

  • 7,000th wish – 16 year old Marcus from Goole, a keen physics student, lives with a Brain Tumour. He had an unusual wish – he wanted to visit CERN (the European Organisation for Nuclear Research) in Geneva. Marcus was able to meet some very distinguished physicists during a vist that was arranged in August 2011 with the help of colleagues from Make-A-Wish Switzerland.

  • 8,000th wish – 15 year old Mischka, who lives with cancer, lost her hair due to her treatment and was bullied at school as a result, causing her to lose confidence. We granted her wish for a confidence-boosting makeover day with Nicky Hambleton-Jones, and she really enjoyed the chance to look and feel great again.

I don't know about you but reading all about this brought a tear to my eye but also warmed my heart.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation

Sssh. Can you keep a secret?

A little birdie, a while ago, whispered to me about Rimmel 'Wake me Up' foundation as a really great hight street brand.  I hadn't used Rimmel since I was about 18 so was a bit sceptical, but oh my she was right.

Rimmel have totally upped their game with this one.

I spend an absolute fortune on make up -  especially foundation -  since I use it everyday.  I really needed a good day wear foundation that was affordable to replace whilst giving me the best possible coverage for during the day so I could keep my more expensive brands for the weekend or special occasions.

This comes in a really nice glass bottle with a lovely orange lid and pump - compared to their old plastic tubes that I used to buy.

The Ivory shade is perfect for my pale skin tone and blends well into the skin giving me a flawless look.

The liquid isn't too heavy and feels light on the skin.
'Introducing Rimmel Wake Me Up, our first makeup that instantly reawakens skin with a healthy, radiant glow and minimises premature skin ageing.
A light, smooth texture for natural, 100% poreless coverage instantly eliminates signs of tiredness and lifts skin from fatigue. Radiance pearls illuminate for a healthy, radiant glow. Flawless natural finish. Peptides increase elasticity so skin recovers and bounces back more quickly. SPF 15 protects.'
6 Shades.
I haven't been using this long enough to state whether I believe that it will reduce premature skin ageing will have to update this post in 5 or so years.

Pair this with an ivory powder and you are good to go.  I can honestly say that this stays put through out the day - well unless i've been doing excessive exercise (she chuckles..hardly) or been out in the pouring rain.

So can you keep my secret?

A Makeup-Pixi3 Christmas Tag

Oh, thank goodness it is Thursday, I have been so tired this week.  To liven myself up a bit I thought I would do something fun, and what's more fun than a normal makeup tag?  A Christmas Tag!  Yay!

The lovely Makeup-Pixi3 created this fabby Christmas Tag and very kindly tagged me to do it!

Click here to read Makeup-Pixi3 answers :-)

Q.   What’s your favourite thing about Christmas?
Christmas is my all time favourite Holiday.  I love everything about Christmas and I particularly love the run up to it, i'm not one of these crazy people who has their Tree up in November but I am one of those annoying people who keeps it up too long into January.  If I had to choose a particular favourite thing, it would be spending quality time with all my family and having a giggle with some vino and lots of food.

Q.   What’s your favourite makeup look for the festive season?
I would say ruby red lips and smoky eyes.

Q.   Real tree or fake tree?
Unfortunately, I prefer a fake tree in my house.  Don't get me wrong I think the real deal is beautiful but I have OCD when it comes to fluff, or crumbs etc on my carpets, It absolutely drives me wild. I am person who has their hoover out 3 times daily and unfortunately that is no exaggeration.  So basically I could not cope with all the pine needles, the thought actually makes me anxious.

Q.   Giving presents or receiving presents?
Absolutely the giving of presents - I love to see the look on the persons face when they open something - especially if it is something that they really wanted.  Apparently I am the worst person to buy for - Have you ever seen Rachel from Friends receive a gift - that's me.  I was a right brat when I was younger.  I am not too bad now. Thankfully!

Q.   Do you open your presents Christmas morning or evening?

Christmas morning as I have 2 little boys who always have me up at the crack of dawn.  I'm impatient when it comes to presents I always want to open them when I'm given them, luckily my husband patience and he doesn't allow me to. So I go in a strop for a while lol.  He is right though it is far better to have more presents on Christmas morning.  I always regret it otherwise.

Q.   Handmade Christmas cards or bought?
I love to buy handmade cards for my nearest and dearest but have absolutely no time to do this myself.

Q.   What’s your favourite Christmas film?
My all time favourite Christmas film is Miracle on 34th Street - the original, then a Wonderful Life and of course no Christmas would be complete without watching ELF at least TWICE!!

Q.   What’s your favourite Christmas food?
This is a good question.
I love a Mince pie and a Caramel Macchiato when out doing my Christmas shopping.
The best bit of the Christmas Main Course is the Stuffing.
And my all time favourite pudding is Trifle

To do this post I tag:

Bellezakisses
Bravenezz
Tales of a Pale Face
Sweetpea London
Beauty Bird

I could sit here all day tagging people literally as there are so many of you I'd love to.  So if you are reading this - TAG YOU'RE IT!

Please link you answers back to me, gives me some lovely evening reading - Also please mention Makeup-pixi3 as the source of this tag in your post. xx

Love Laura
